Abandoned Private School with a Sports Complex

A small abandoned private school on the outskirts of Elbasan. The two-storey building housed a kindergarten on the ground floor with access to a pool, and the school itself on the upper floor — around a dozen classrooms and a spacious veranda overlooking the pool.

As of February 2026, textbooks and exercise books, a teaching skeleton, toys and students’ crafts, various play props, and wall murals are still preserved inside. In places the ceiling is crumbling and the roof leaks. Entry is free through the gate and an unlocked door. There are no guards; the security booth has no roof, though staff from a nearby café may keep an eye on the place.

The school sits within the grounds of a wellness centre that includes several sports courts, a stadium, and a water park — of which only the café and pools with water slides are operational, and only in summer. The stadium also looks abandoned, with the under-stand rooms frozen mid-renovation. A concrete futuristic building near the school is in a similar state — half its windows are missing, and the entire ground floor is cluttered with broken equipment and construction materials.
