Air Defense Position T-TW with Bunkers Placed on an Illyrian Castle

A former artillery position built on a hill to the west of Tirana. The hill commands views over two road corridors, making it a natural strongpoint across the centuries. An Illyrian castle originally stood here, constructed in antiquity, but in the twentieth century the army cleared its ruins and used the stones to face the gun emplacements.

The position consisted of six platforms for heavy machine guns, each flanked by two semi-underground ammunition stores. Several underground shelters for personnel and equipment were also part of the complex, and a cobblestone road once led to the summit. Today every structure has been torn apart by scrap metal collectors.
