Artillery Bunkers D-JB

Several clusters of artillery bunkers built from prefabricated concrete elements, spread across hills running parallel to the sea. They were meant to provide covering fire along the coastline in the event of an amphibious landing on the Albanian shore. Some bunkers have been wrecked by metal scavengers, some survive in a battered state, and some now shelter livestock. One cluster has preserved wall paintings — reference charts for the gun crews — along with illustrations of Albanian and enemy military equipment.

Here and there along the route you come across abandoned hamlets of three to five houses. A fine spot for a full-day hike.
