Artillery Bunkers L-KG with Fortifications

Artillery gun bunkers covering the road that connects Tirana with the northern cities. The position looks highly atypical. Unlike standard artillery bunkers — groups of four, where an anti-aircraft gun is sheltered and can be rolled out — here there are three groups of three bunkers each, from which only the gun barrel can protrude. The groups with their gun emplacements face north, north-west, and south-west. They are connected by galleries that housed ammunition stores, food supplies, a well, and barracks.

Lower down at the foot of the hill are three pillboxes with machine-gun embrasures and observation positions. Formerly it was possible to climb up from them to the artillery bunker above via an underground tunnel, but it has collapsed. The whole complex has the feel of a heavily fortified strongpoint. Unguarded.
