Bunker T-WW
Description
One of the hills in the ridge between Tirana and Durrës is pierced in several places by tunnels running at different levels. This is a large bunker of unknown purpose. It has two entrances and exits, long winding tunnels totalling roughly half a kilometre in length, one small hall and one enormous hall. It is impossible to say with any certainty what the bunker was intended for: all partition walls, doors, wiring and other fittings have been stripped by scrap metal collectors, leaving only the tunnels themselves.
One of the entrances opens onto a dirt road that runs along the hilltops. This entrance has a notable feature — a gun embrasure for a submachine gun, directed into the entrance postern. A garage is also located here. The second entrance is lost among blackberry bushes and is difficult to reach from outside; one can exit through it, take a look, and turn back.
Above the bunker lies a system of pillboxes and observation positions facing in various directions, with no connection to the bunker below. During the day, an enormous number of sleeping bats can be found here. Unguarded.
