Description

A hotel with a bar and restaurant, built around the 1980s — that is, before the fall of Albania’s communist regime — and one that survived that fall. Given the years of its construction, it was intended primarily for party officials, business travellers on state assignments, or the occasional foreign guest. The hotel continued to operate for a couple of decades after the regime collapsed, by which point it was frequented by ordinary travellers.

Three floors of guest rooms, a restaurant on the ground floor, and a bar with a terrace on the basement level. The wooden décor of the common areas survives, as does the rather dated furnishings of the guest rooms. The residential wing has been abandoned for quite some time and is in middling condition.

The restaurant has been closed since roughly 2020 — likely a casualty of COVID — while the bar was still serving as recently as September 2023, and consequently looks almost fresh (if you overlook the crumbling ceiling and the terrace buried under fallen leaves). As of February 2026, the preservation state is excellent, despite open back doors and broken windows. All the kitchen and bar equipment is in place, along with tables and chairs, appliances, electronics, even a Wi-Fi router and a video projector. The guest rooms are emptier and more forlorn, though a few still have beds with mattresses, plumbing, and furniture.

No security has been spotted; the building is without power and leaks in rain, many windows are broken, ceilings are already beginning to crumble and walls to mould. Stray dogs may be encountered inside. Someone likely checks on the building from time to time, as the front entrance remains locked — but entry is possible from the back.
