Coastal Artillery Bunkers V-CF with Tunnels

Monolithic concrete artillery bunkers set on scenic cliffs not far from the city of Vlorë. Four gun emplacements are interconnected by a tunnel wide enough for a truck to pass through. A separate tunnel leads to the opposite side of the cliff, where a shelter for soldiers and vehicles was located. A rangefinder sits at the top of the cliff.

The façades of the gun emplacements are covered in graffiti on various themes of animals and ecology, and tourist information plaques have been installed. In one of the tunnels on the far side of the cliff, an attempt was made to create an ecological museum, though it has effectively been abandoned. Posters describing the animals and plants of Albania still hang on the walls. The museum door is sometimes left open.

Inscriptions preserved on the bunker walls include slogans, artillery reference tables, and illustrated guides depicting enemy and allied equipment: ships, an aircraft carrier, a submarine, aircraft, and helicopters.

Outside, swallows build their nests on the bunkers; bats can be encountered inside the tunnels; and in one of the far corners of the complex, a badger has taken up residence.
