Command Bunker of the Durres District

The former command post of the city of Durrës — a bomb shelter built for the city administration and the leadership of various civil services, housed in tunnels cut through a hill. The facility is in exceptionally good condition: all doors, wiring, metalwork and finishing materials survive intact, as do the sanitary facilities, ventilation system, air filters and other equipment. The complex comprises around two dozen residential rooms and working offices. A separate block houses a rust-patinated diesel generator for autonomous power supply, itself in excellent condition.

Access is through a grate set into the wall of a residential courtyard, so visits are best made after dark — wait until there are no passers-by, no moving cars, and no observers on the balconies above.
