Command Bunker of the Gjirokastra District

Now a museum. The bunker served as the command and control centre for the city of Gjirokastra — a shelter for municipal administrators and the heads of various civil services, housed in tunnels cut through a hill. The overall condition is moderate: the blast doors survive, the ventilation system is intact, and a modest amount of equipment remains — typewriters, metal desks and chairs, and a partially dismantled diesel generator. The complex was once connected to the main municipal administration building by a tunnel, but it collapsed roughly halfway along its length.

Official guided tours are offered, with tickets sold on the ground floor of the administration building; outside the tourist season, however, the bunker can be visited independently by entering through an unlocked door.
