Psychiatric Hospital
Description
A grim building of complex shape on the grounds of the city’s main hospital — a former madhouse, or to use the official term, a psychiatric rehabilitation centre. Built under the communists. Five storeys, three external spiral staircases, smashed windows and bars on every frame. There is an air-raid shelter built into the basement, accessible from the ground floor or through the ventilation shaft of the emergency exit.
As of April 2025 — the ground floor is sealed off; floors from the second upward are accessible. Almost nothing has survived inside, but some furniture remains, along with stretchers, mattresses and jars of antidepressants.
There are no guards at the building itself, but the hospital grounds are watched by a private security firm and enclosed by a fence. Entry is free through any of several checkpoints. Cars are parked across the grounds, including around the abandoned building.
