Storage Tunnels T-HY

Five heavily protected tunnel-type ammunition depots set into a mountain slope. Two of the side depots have alcoves that expand the storage area. A guardhouse once stood outside, but it was destroyed by a landslide. The facility is in good condition. Blast doors survive at the entrances, along with some ventilation pipes, light fixtures, and electrical panels. Storage bays are marked out on the floors. In places, stacks of concrete blocks remain — used to prop up ammunition crates. The hermetic doors, non-ferrous metals, and electric motors have all been stolen. Nearby lie the ruins of a military unit: the barracks are empty and half-collapsed.

An interesting fact: these very tunnels once held Communist Albania’s chemical weapons stockpile, until it was destroyed.

The site is not directly guarded, but a drinking-water treatment plant is visible from the tunnels, with a security guard posted at its gatehouse. There is also an active military base not far away, with a recently renovated perimeter.
