Underground Bakery

An underground facility constructed to house a bread factory. It takes the form of an arched tunnel running beneath a hill, with a perpendicular tunnel branching off from its centre toward the surface. The two ends of the arch served as the cargo entrance for raw materials and the exit for finished loaves, while the central tunnel provided access for personnel. The main corridor housed the bakery conveyor line. Off this corridor branch three small empty rooms, most likely former storage.

A notable detail: the factory operated for its intended purpose exactly once — during a nationwide power blackout, when it supplied the city of Durrës with bread for several days. The facility had no isolation or sealed protection; personnel and equipment were shielded only against ionising radiation.

Nothing metal remains — the tunnels are bare. The cargo entrances are overgrown with blackberry bushes. No security.
